Broker Disputes
  All States
I believe my broker acted wrongfully in handling my account. How do I resolve my problem?

If you have a complaint against a broker on how your account was handled, there are several preliminary steps you can consider in an effort to resolve your complaint:

(1) Talk to your broker and explain the problem. Where is the fault? Were communications clear? Refer to your notes. What did the broker tell you? What do your notes say?

(2) Put your complaint in a letter addressed to the broker and the broker’s branch manager. Send your letters by certified mail return receipt requested. Keep a copy of your letter and proof of mailing.

If your broker and/or branch manager are unwilling to resolve the problem to your satisfaction, consider writing to the Compliance Department at the firm's main office and the firm’s President. Explain your problem clearly and state how you want it resolved. Ask the Compliance Officer to respond to you within 30 days. Keep a copy of all correspondence and proof of mailing.
