Where can I get a list of companies that are being probed or investigated by the SEC for accounting fraud?
The Securities and Exchange Commission does not confirm or deny the existence of any investigation. The SEC conducts all of its investigations on a confidential basis to protect their integrity and effectiveness.
Information about investigations may become public if the SEC brings a lawsuit in court or if the SEC begins legal action within its administrative process. The SEC publishes news releases about its lawsuits and administrative actions, and the news media often report on them. You can also obtain them in hardcopy form by contacting the SEC at the Office of Public Reference.
