What if I buy a car ‘as is’?

If you buy a car "as is", which generally happens when you are buying a used car through a private person, rather than a dealer, then there are no express or implied warranties. However, some states do not permit used cars to be sold "as is". To find out if your state is one of those, check with an attorney familiar with your local laws. Also check out section on Lemon Laws.
