I received title to my vehicle and a letter stating that I successfully paid off my loan. Now the lienholder says they goofed. Do I have any legal rights?
Well, since you made all the payments, they're scoundrels, right? They are stuck on releasing the lien. You now have clear title.

However, you are not home free. Did you by any chance sign a note when you borrowed that money from the lienholder? Sure you did. Can they sue you on the note? Sure they can. Can you prove you already paid it all? Hmmmmm. Did the papers you sign obligate you to pay their attorney's fees if they have to sue on the note. Sure it did. Class dismissed.
