Car Searches
FAQs
I got stopped for a busted tail light and then, without my permission, the cop searched my car and found pot in the trunk. At the hearing, he said he knew I had drugs because he saw seeds on the floor and they were in "plain view", but the drugs in the trunk weren’t. Can a lawyer get the drugs excluded from evidence as illegally seized?
I borrowed my friend’s car and got stopped by the police who asked if they could search. I said yes because I don't do anything illegal. They found some methamphetamine in the glove compartment, but it wasn’t mine. The cops said to "tell it to the judge." I guess I was "in possession" but I don’t feel like I committed any crime. Should I take the prosecutor’s offer for probation and no jail?
Can a police officer search my car when I am stopped for speeding?
Can a police officer search me if I am a passenger in a car that has been stopped for speeding?
