Social security denied disability benefits. What’s my next step?
The Social Security Administration will provide you with a written decision regarding eligibility for social security disability benefits. If you do not agree with the decision, you have a right of appeal. Your appeal may be presented to an Administrative Law Judge who regularly handles these matters and is generally familiar with social security and its eligibility rules. If you do not succeed at this level, and want to move forward, you can also appeal to a US District Court.

The hurdles to qualify and obtain Social Security disability benefits are great—a lot of weaving and bobbing around, to say the least. There are lawyers who specialize in Social Security cases and we recommend strongly that you have one to guide you through the nightmarish bureaucracy.
