Licenses for wireless communications are administered by the FCC. Actions for deceptive marketing or fraudulent investment schemes are handled by the Federal Trade Commission.

The wireless communications industry is growing exponentially. Every week companies announce new products and services using wireless frequencies. Cellular is a method of mobile communications using "cells", which are small service areas that are linked together. Most cellular phones today operate using analog methods.

PCS is short for personal communications services, which are primarily mobile phones that operate digitally. These PCS units can provide any number of services and features including paging, answering services, and text messaging.
