Can I bring a legal malpractice suit against a lawyer for charging what I think is an exorbitant fee?
Price is generally not a malpractice issue.

Generally, as with other cases, if the lawyer’s fee is outrageous and disproportionate to the services received, you might have a case, probably in small claims court. But before running to court, take into account the going rate for such services in your area, the time the lawyer spent with you, the lawyer’s expertise, and any time spent researching or preparing your documents. You might also ask him or her to reconsider the amount charged. You could also consult with a legal malpractice attorney in your area on the relative strength or weakness of your claim.
