Paying up--

Payment deadlines vary considerably throughout the country. Some are collected on an annual cycle, some require payment in two installments, and others require payment in three or four payments. And still others allow monthly tax payments. Check with your local collection office on payment options:

· Discounts if you pay early

· Split payments

· Partial payments

· Credit card payments

· Escrow agreements

There are also, in some states, procedures which allow a taxpayer to extend the time for payment of the tax due.

Homeowners with escrow accounts that pay the property tax have nothing to worry about. The mortgage-holder pays the tax bill.
